its new 'flamethrower' sound is weird. i don't know if it's more distracting to the attacked or revealing to the attacker. perhaps depended on case.

I use the M4, very accurate long range and quick Reload times.

m4 > lr as far as I'm concerned. AK is fun, but I gave it up for m4, and LR just...dunno....doesn't seem as fun as an m4 enema.

I personally love the combination of G36 with a SPAS and a DE. Allow you to counter for long range (single shot scoped is pretty accurate, enough to take out snipers), medium and short range (G36 lacks in high ROF, but than again a single well aimed shot with SPAS is enough in short range and than there is always DE to pop heads off). But than again i'm a cautious type of player trying to read your next moves rather than trying to outgun/outaim my targets.
I dont often use helmets as i find them pretty useless when someone with a SR8 put a red dot on your face ready for a field brain surgery. Rather put something else in the inventory instead. I usually pick the silencer to lower the spread a bit and reduce the chances of giving away my position/presence. I could use a laser sight for that. But i dont like how that gives away my presence, the very opposite of what a silencer does.

To the original poster, like someone else posted before: depend on what style you decide to plays. For my weapon selection script i have different type of layout defined for different playing style: gears-pack.cfg

m4 seems to have a little better range but a little more spread. Not positive on that though, just seems that way to me.

I My mainstays are the LR (M4 if many others are using it so I can get ammo),

Ammo for m4 and LR are the same in 4.0.  No need to switch weapons for that.

I don't think I can pick up m4's for ammo when I have a lr300, or can I?
