instead of "code" (BB), you could have used "quote" (BB) to have proper line wrapping

it just occurred to be the use of the word "movie" here is quite funny considering to make a real movie you need writers, scripters, directors, camera men, editors, whatever. this is like having only a video compressor and possibly an editor.
There have been a couple of "directed" and "written" UrT Movies back in the day. Can't recall the names off the top of my head right now.

Video is not the same as a demo. A demo is only the recoding of the gameplay, which you can play back in your game. Recording a demo is the same in any engine. /recorddemo or /record <whatever> and /stoprecord.
Generally, you record a video while playing back the demo.
You would need ioUrbanTerror to use the video and stopvideo command. Why would you WANT to use q3 when recording a movie? You'll have to use cl_avidemo which creates 1000's of screenshots which you'll have to put together into a movie. Very cumbersome. I'd advise using ioUrbanTerror for it and its video en stopvideo command.

Why would I want to? Because quake3 is what I have. All I want is to be able to record a demo, not make a movie. I want to record demos of suspected cheats to send to urtadmins to see if they think it's hacks. I'd have some beauts by now if I knew how.
Ok, that was easy and worked. I noticed during playback the quality is a little jumpy. Do I have to do anything with g_sychronousclients? TIA

Oh, I assumed you wanted to make a video cause you are in the movie forum and was trying the video commands.
As for the synchronousclients, if you use /recorddemo, it should do it automatically, when using /record name, I'm not sure if you have to set it to 1 manually still? If you do, make sure to set it back to 0 once the demo is recording.
