The updater should now be fixed and working properly for those who haven't updated yet. We're still searching why it downloads HTML files for some of you.

I am afraid not.

I downloaded the latest uploader from the official download page : UrbanTerror42_Ded_64.zip

I unzipped it then ran.

It seems it download each file twice.
I noticed that the first instance of the file is OK (md5sum), but after the second download, the file is only 70K and is an html file. I'll try to kill updater after the first download, to see if files are OK

More investigations :
The files are not on the server. If you try to download a non existent file, you are redirected on the main page without any 404 error shown (http://www.urbanterror.info/).
So, wget try to download the file, is redirected to the main page, and then download this HTML file. I can reproduce this manually.

Maybe files have not been pushed on all dl servers ??

logs :

The server with IP 91.121.174.57 is the one with missing files.
I forced to another server with IP 46.105.198.3 and files are OK.

Regards,

Helmets are not visible in the mirror, though the 3D axes are.

I am having the same issues here. Found out new version is out there for download, PK3 files did not get overwritten and also only html files were downloaded for the dedicated binaries (linux).
Had to update a windows client and scp the dedicated ELF binaries from there.

also some pk3 Files did not download correctly (did not find urt4_turnpike). Had to scp the whole q3ut4 Folder from Windows to the server to be sure of having the completee working urt 4.2 running on linux.

First, check you have all pk3s downloaded correctly using checksums from this thread.
After that, you can try running local game (console, map <something>) and check if skins are OK.

If you still have problems, it's because of server problem some servers have.
This can be checked using fs_referencedList console command while connected. It should list all pk3s, from zUrT42_0001.pk3 to zUrT42_0013.pk3, including zUrT42_qvm.pk3.
If any of it is missing on server and in list returned by this command, like 0012 with all player models, it will not be loaded and you get missing model textures. There is nothing you can do to fix it, it's server admin who needs to redownload these files. You can try finding some other server without this problem, or wait until server admin fixes this problem.

All server admins should verify that all pk3 files on their servers have correct checksums!
Updater does no checking, will download HTML files, so you have to do all this manually.

I use http://sourceforge.n...autodownloader/ to create http://software.open...rbanterror-data and immitate the GUI updater. It also works with incremental updates. Once http://www.urbanterror.info/downloads/ is updated with Filenames and MD5 I will update the RPMs.

Someone should write a small bash script that downloads the files and does an MD5 check for server admins who require CLI.

This is what I found out with WireShark: The download URL consists of http://cdn.urbanterr...BER-2/$FILENAME so it is http://cdn.urbanterr...07/readme42.txt, http://cdn.urbanterr...zUrT42_0001.pk3 and so on.

OK.

Forcing IP in /etc/hosts worked both for game and Dedicated server (both Linux x64)

Now, I can see this bug (never checked if it was present in old versions) :

Watching myself in dressingroom mirror, when I reload my pistol, the ammo magazine is removed then a new one inserted. But with the G36, in the mirror, the ammo magazine is not removed. Not realistic :)

Thanks, and regards.

We can't use the HD weapon models in 4.x because they are at least 5 times the resolution and would have a negative impact on your fps. New textures are hard to do for some of the existing 4.x weapons because we do not have the original source files (3ds max scene and psd). It's not impossible but it would be quite time consuming (it used to take me 80 hours to do a weapon skin like the UMP or LR when I had a special version of the model's max scene set up for skinning). The DE, Beretta, G36, SPAZ, M4, MP5k were done by people who haven't been on the team for years. Maybe one of the pistols from HD, like the DE, would be ok. They aren't as high in resolution. I'll ask Frankie about it since he is the one who has to struggle with the md3 system.

Thanks for this reponse.

I keep getting download error when zUrT42_0011.pk3 is being downloaded. I removed zUrT42.pk3's from 8 to 12 and zUrT42_qvm.pk3 before launching updater. Is someone else having this issue? Or i did something wrong?
