Also, SevenOfNine forgot to add, in HD there will be no BSP compatibility, since we will not use idtech-based engine. Also, vast majority of 4.x maps will be gone, because of legal issues. Including Abbey, Sanc or Algiers. We will mostly rely on polygonal meshes, like every modern game.

Well answered FS . No really , & I mean absolutely no sarcasm here .
Really like the most answers & the especially the way it was answered & with finesse !

So fstech1 will not be based on idtech4 ?
Damn , that's a lot of work then , I mean to start an engine from scratch like id do ...
I am not saying FS programmers cannot do it , but it is a lot of work , the poor coders :( .

Someone care to elaborate this? fstech1 as modified as it may be still draws it's origins from idtech engine.
So, was the old fstech1 engine from HD alpha dropped?

Yes, it will be a completely new engine designed by FS, not based on q3. I know it's a long listen, but the Q&A session is best worth listening. The questions and answers posted above are only the ones post in the forums by the community. There were loads more questions (and more elaborate answers) in the stream.
