So Just for kicks I wrote a little theme that could be looped for a menu soundtrack. I think I did alright keeping that signature UrT bass synth sound and combining it with a nice D&B style track.

I think it's less about genre and more about musematic components.
Musematics is a more modern approach to music analysis by Philip Tagg. Since you already know a lot about music (as is evident with the track you created) I just gonna link to the actual part about musematic analysis.

- I also have a short version from my music class, but it is in danish.
- And here's a short wiki entry too, though I'm not sure how good that one actually is.
Comparing musematically the current Q3UrT theme and yours.
- No musical bits or beats from the original are referenced/used (not really important, but can be used to great effect)
- I'm not saying you should rather make a cover or remix. There's a difference between using using parts of the beat or snippets of the melody and an actual cover/remix.
- While both are using digital instruments, the original used grungy instruments, while the instruments in yours have a more relaxing and dreamy feel to them. It doesn't set the same tone.
- Urban Terror HD is lorewise a dystopian society after the 2008 crash.
- More importantly though, the menu is the doorway between Windows OS and Urban Terror. Bringing in some more energy, reflecting the UrT gameplay, would help.
- Urban Terror HD is lorewise a dystopian society after the 2008 crash.
- So there are no UrT Theme related musemes in your current track, making it lack any current connection to UrT, but that is not enough to actually say that the song isn't fitting. I think that feeling mainly stems from the the tone/feel conveyed by the choice of instruments: Dreamy+Relaxed vs Grungy+High Energy.

I like it, It sounds futuristic and fun but maybe just a bit too happy? don't get me wrong, I love that arp synth
All in all, I would be happy if that was the Menu Music
Though this is funny, I did the exact same thing today :D
I took a completely different approach going at the Urban/Epic kind of theme

I will be redoing a bit as I already have some feedback, but let me know what you think :)

@Kronik: I'ts really cool and i do get hyped by hearing it, but i do agree that it feels a little bit too happy for UrT.
I think of Mirror's Edge when i hear it and just want to start run around on rooftops and roam the city <3
So you definitely captured that "movement feeling" correct :D
@Bavon: Haha this theme feels very Asian to me xD and not really fitting to be honest :D
Nice work anyhow (:

I like your proposals, but just for my personal taste, Kronik's proposal could be more UrTish changing the drums to a lower tone ones and with one or two hits less per beat. Also for Bavon's one it could sound better for me if the strings were replaced by some more like bells (tubular bells perhaps?) with the same melody. But in any case, it would be difficult to define what would sound more UrT

We have a musician in the team and we are upgrading his samples to ones that work with 64 bit. What samples are you using for your music? We're looking at purchasing VSL (Vienna Symphony Library).
I use Symphobia, https://www.projects...bia-Series/1428
Another really good strings library is East-West Hollywood Strings, worth looking at :)
