Compilation is common as most programs. See the README, INSTALL files, google it.
It's something like (roughly):
get the tar.gz.
extract with tar zxpvf <file>
./configure (configuration in this is usually complete with ./configure --enable-gtk2 --enable-geoip --enable-externalrcon for all features, --with-qstat=quakestat was also needed for debian when I was writing that message, not on linux now)
then make
('make install' installs it in /usr/local/bin)
if you have all the tools it should compile. I probably just needs gcc, gtk2 dev, geoip dev.
specialized tools for certain distros can make packages out of it.
