So should Mr. Sentry be more than just Mr. Sentry?

As some of you might have noticed I've been working on the HD replacement for Mr. Sentry and doing all of the good stuff it has to do, tracking and firing wise, and working on the AI it occurred to me that it would be simple enough to add a player control and camera system and could be controlled by the player to do other nasty stuff.
It's something that I plan on doing anyways to add flexibility but stuff like this can easily be added at this stage to offer it as a map entity to third party map makers.

In the current state of the game its just there to protect the spawnroom, it makes no sense to let a player control it, since this would be very boring (nothing to do) and he could let the flagcarrier in.
Having mr.sentry hanging around the map would require a good counter to an invincible overpowered machinegun :P

Well the ideal is to just make useful and functional stuff as a map entity and leave it up to the 3rd party map maker to decided how such items best fit in their maps design. The bad news is map makers will not have access to blueprints so anything to be added by third party will need to be restricted to predefined entities much like in GDK.
We are the equipment manufacture and if someone wants to use a bat to hit a ball or beat someone over the head with it then we would have to make it available. ;)

for sure controlable mr sentry would be cool. like you currently can do a room with buttons that open doors with sentries behind them. but thats nor very stylish. i would like controlable sentries for things like an assault mode or a capture and hold. anyway there should be sentries that cant be controlled.
definetly no deployable sentries. ^^ imagine ctf with sentries covering the flag.....
actually imagine any gamemode with sentries covering half of the map. who gets through alive wins. :)
