[4.2] Update 4.2.005

We have a new update for Urban Terror 4.2 ! Please use the UrTUpdater to automatically update your game to the latest version! It will not only download new files, but also overwrite old ones.

urt By using the UrTUpdater you are sure that all the files in your Urban Terror folder are correctly updated.

In Update 4.2.005 we had to go back to the 4.2.002 animations temporarily, expect more updates to follow !


Updated skins.
Fixed the ledge climb animation.
Fixed CTF scores bleeding through warmup into game.
Fixed the server crash issue.

alert WARNING Sorry everyone. We just discovered that the updater is broken and is not overwriting the paks it is supposed to. It should overwrite zUrT42_0008.pk3, zUrT42_0009.pk3, zUrT42_0010.pk3, zUrT42_0011.pk3, zUrT42_0012.pk3 and zUrT42_qvm.pk3. If you delete the old pk3's and run the updater it should download the new versions of the above pk3's and get the new zUrT42_0013.pk3.

Our team has worked very hard to bring you our latest update !


Fixed the "all servers full" server browser issue.
Fixed the mute command, it can handle temp muting now.
Tweaked the stamina drain.
The bleed rate is proportional again to how many times you get shot.
Updated player model skins.

alert WARNING Make sure you use the updater to download the zUrT42_0009.pk3, zUrT42_0010.pk3 and zUrT42_0011.pk3 because these have been changed since 4.2.003. The updater will overwrite these pk3's with the newer versions.

Fixed crouch popping.
Fixed turtling, you can no longer crouch with the player's head on your thighs.
Fixed kick vote bugs.
Fixed coloured names.
Added FFA/LMS overlay.

alert WARNING We found a issue in the server browser UI, it's causing all servers to apear FULL which did not get trapped by our testing. We are sorry, we are working on a hot-fix for this asap. We will keep you updated!

Fenix joins FrozenSand

FrozenSand is proud to announce that Fenix has joined the FrozenSand development team !

Fenix is a computer engineer studying at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". He likes to code in Java and PHP especially. Also works with C, C++, Python, SQL, JavaScript, and more.

Fenix will be working on the engine code for Urban Terror HD together with Raedwulf.

[4.2] Bugs Squashed

We killed many bugs !

Please update your Urban Terror 4.2 to version 002 as soon as possible.

information Players, to update your Urban Terror 4.2, simply run the UrTUpdater, follow the onscreen instructions. and it should automatically update your game to the latest version including all the fixes we made.

alert Server admins please pay attention, you will need to re-download the UrTUpdater_ded before updating your game server !!

Fixed the server crash issue.
Fixed the login page in the game menu.
Fixed the authentication system, including the auth issue on linux x86_64 systems.
Fixed the server log line truncate when the lines have more than 1024 chars.
Fixed arm bands rgb, custom colored armbands should work again.
Fixed the bleedout bug.
Fixed hits, shooting in the knees is no longer registered as a vest hit.
Fixed cg_drawKillLog 0 now only shows hits.
Fixed the helmet no longer becomes "white" on the map Sanctuary.
Fixed the medic bug, it goes as fast as intended now.
Fixed the "killsss" typo that was showing in the FFA scoreboard.
Fixed 100% cpu usage dedicated servers.
Fixed the "Quake3-UrT_Logitech_Game_Recognition.reg" file for players with Logitech mouses.
Fixed the size of the G36.
Fixed the Nuke, server admins can nuke players again: /rcon nuke <playername/id>.
Fixed the kick vote.

Other changes

Updated the maps Kingdom, Raiders and Casa. You should not get stuck anymore, also no more hiding inside rocks.
Updated the SPAS12 so it has 20 pellets instead of 11 and adjusted the damage accordingly.
Added back a laser to the AK103, like how it was in 4.1.
Added a mapcycle.txt file for servers.
Default /rate raised to 16000 instead of 3000.
Potentially fixed the FPS issue.
Auth-ban and the bans on our website are now fully functional.
Updated the /rcon auth-whois command to show more infomation.

Level Designer MajkiFajki joins Frozen Sand

MajkiFajki is a progressive level designer and modeler. His last map ut4_poland won the mapping contest at FTWGL !
Works with GtkRadiant and 3ds Max. Known to listen to community input on his maps and often makes the changes requested by players.

After Release Party

Thank you all for the support and trying out our newest version of Urban Terror !

The following bugs are being investigated, these are known bugs and Frozen Sand is working hard on fixing them:

Known Bugs

Armbands are not displayed correctly on team mates.
The time it takes to medic is too slow.
Server using 100% CPU power.
Server - Info string length exceeded.
Wrong G36 model (1st person view).
Autopickup 0 inconsistent.
Server Crash - ERROR: Cvar_Update: handle out of range.
Server Crash - unknown GH problem.
[Updater] vector:_M_range_check.
Hit mesh errors, e.g. leg registering as vest.
Crouch unhits.
Server Bug - console freezes.
Team gametypes showing as FFA, however this doesn't happen on our own test servers. We don't use any server bots. The server admins who reported this were probably using a server bot.
Some reports about stamina but we need more details.
Laser on AK, it was not supposed to have a laser but it seems people like it and didn't think it was overpowered with the bug in 4.1 so we will implement it properly.
Five pellets in the SPAS12, the damage marks do not show all of the pellets that are shot. Incidentally that is the same as in previous versions, but the spread in 4.2 is much tighter.
Dark shadow on Casa.
Clipping needed on Raiders.

Some of the reported bugs came from players who had installed Urban Terror 4.2 incorrectly, e.g. installing Urban Terror 4.2 in their 4.1.1 folder. Urban Terror 4.2 is a complete repack and requires a separate folder. Please continue to report bugs with as much detail as possible.

Get Urban Terror 4.2 Beta NOW !

Urban Terror 4.2 Beta is a full repack of 4.1.1 plus the new additions.

information Few information:
You may also install your engine of choice.
Not backwards compatible with previous versions of Urban Terror.
No funstuff, for now anyway, it was causing lots of problems.
Urban Terror 4.2 should not be confused with Urban Terror HD.

[4.2] New and Updated Maps

New maps


Bohemia places the player in the midst of a somewhat unconventional city scape, tall buildings arc over the players as they run through the city's narrow streets and interlocking courtyards.


Cascade is a river based assault on a partially underground facility.


Raiders is Indiana Jones themed combining the Golden Idol, the temple and jungle environment. It has a classic medium sized layout is and designed for 8 to 12 players.

Updated maps


Casa's lighting has been changed so that it is less bright.


Kingdom's size has been brought down to medium. A new path between the Garden and the Church is added, and to prevent camping some areas were rebuilt.


Kingpin's indoor path has been rebuilt.


Mandolin had some bugs which were fixed like the bomb/nodrop issue and there are also some graphical updates.

To see the new and updated maps in full view, you'll have to wait till tomorrow... August 3, 2012 !

[4.2] Updated Hits and Animations

Updated Hit detection

Hit detection in Urban Terror 4.2 has been greatly increased by rebuilding surface detection from scratch !

The old hit mesh's animations used to get out of sync with the player model's animations. This doesn't happen anymore with the new system. To accomplish this new animations had to be created along with a new hit mesh.
